I think ESPN for SportsCenter has been using the same basic theme music by John Colby with multiple derivatives of it since sometime in 1989. The best version IMHO was what they used from April 1994 until sometime I think in 2000 or 2001. Since sometime in late 2000 or 2001 or maybe 2002, they have used a variant of the 1994 to 2000 theme with more of a rock and pop and somewhat remix and still use it today, though maybe slightly modified and slight modifications over the years??
OMG so many late nights in the 1990s spent listening to a similar version of this music as scores slowly flashed across the TV screen-I was ensconced in a variety of hotels whilst traveling in the US Southwest...! I just left the TV on-didn’t care about the content. I don’t think today’s producers understand just how powerful this theme was.
Internet and every sport having its own channel made sports center irrelevant
They played this during the sixth inning of the apopka-tokyo game and apopka lost lol
Best SportsCenter theme music of all time.

This version opening and close should be brought back. Nuff said.
